Community Support Services offers a wide range of services and programs to help seniors live and remain at home and maintain independence in the community. We provide service in Kenora, Red Lake and Sioux Lookout.
Individual assessment and programming for each client.
Adult Day Program (Club Day Away)
This service provides programming in a group setting, outside the home, for older adults who are living in the community, including those with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
- Club Day Away is available Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
- Transportation is arranged and lunch is provided
- 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Congregate Dining Program
This service provides a meal in a social setting for people to interact and meet others within Parkview, Benidickson Court & Gardner House Apartments. The meal is provided Tuesday & Thursday at Parkview and Gardner House and Mondays and Wednesdays at Benidickson Court. All meals are served at 5 p.m. Advance notice is required for bookings and cancellations.
Home Help
This service provides light housekeeping duties such as vacuuming, dusting and washing floors that can be undertaken on a regular basis or only occasionally.
- General cleaning i.e. vacuuming, dusting, washing floors
- Laundry assistance if required
Home Maintenance
This service provides lawn care such as grass cutting, raking and small gardens and heavy housecleaning.
- Grass cutting, raking, small gardens
- Heavy housecleaning, i.e., wall washing, ceilings, inside and outside windows
Meals on Wheels
This service helps provides individuals with a hot-meal delivered to their door who are physically unable to prepare meals.
- 7 days a week including holidays
- Evening meal (7 days a week) or lunch meal (Monday through Friday)
- Advance notice is required
Visiting Hospice Services
We provide trained volunteers to offer companionship and support to individuals and families with a chronic or life-limiting illness.
Personal Response Service
This service that gives individuals the confidence to continue to live independently in their own home by ensuring that help is only a button push away. To call for help, you simply press the Personal Help Button you wear as a pendant or a wristband. The Personal Help Button activates a small in-home communicator that automatically dials the Lifeline Response Centre.
Supportive Housing – Benidickson, Gardner and Parkview
This program is designed to help people live independently in their own apartments. The focus is on promoting mental and physical health along with 24/7 personal support. For a monthly fee, clients enjoy scheduled activities and outings among other benefits.
Transportation – User fee
A support service that provides transportation to medical appointments, wellness programs for individuals who meet the eligibility criteria. Medical appointments are a priority.
- 48-hours advance notice is required to ensure adequate time and availability for transportation arrangements
Volunteers
Volunteers are the backbone of our organization. Anyone who enjoys working with the elderly and has some time to spare can gain a rewarding experience by volunteering. Please contact our office for further information.
24 Hour Cancellation Policy
24-hour notice is required when canceling a service or the user fee or minimum 1 hour will be charged.
Exceptions
Meals On Wheels – same day cancellation by noon is accepted
Congregate Dining Program – Monday by noon for cancellations that week
