On November 27, 1957 some seventy women gathered in the large dining room at Pinecrest Home for the Aged. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the possibility of the formation of an Auxiliary for the Home.

Officials at the meeting stressed that Pinecrest is a home, not an institution and the residents should feel that they have an active place in our community.

Since that first meeting the Auxiliary has grown in excess of 100 members, has monthly meetings every second Thursday, provides support socially and financially to the Home through active fund raising.

Who We Are

We are a group of dedicated men and women who willingly give of ourselves to make a better place for the Residents to live. We are the volunteers whose primary goal is to raise funds seven days a week selling Nevada tickets, operating a Tuck Shop, holding teas, bake sales, basket draws, hosting funeral receptions, bridge tournaments and always actively searching for new ways to fund raise. We are talented, creative, excellent bakers, good organizers and work as a team. We welcome new members who would like to give their time, talent and energy to serve the elderly.

We Accept Donations

What We’ve Accomplished

Initially we started with little things like: mattress pads, bed check units, oximeter, cork boards for resident rooms, commodes, televisions, vcr, etc. Over the years as Pinecrest Home is aging the auxiliary has been replacing many necessities, that are not covered by the Home’s budget, to enhance and enrich the daily lives of the Residents. The Administrator provides us with a “Wish List” annually and we commit ourselves to deliver. More recent undertakings include: all window coverings, furnished Tuck Shop lounge with tables and chairs, adjustable tables and chairs for four dining rooms, wheelchair shower washer, furnished lounges, spa tub, seamless slings, resident lifts and blanket warmers.
